UCR (Under Colour Removal)
In commercial full-colour printing, UCR is a technique that reduces the amount of cyan, magenta, and yellow ink in the shadows and neutral areas of an image by replacing them with an appropriate amount of black. This process reduces the total area of ink coverage (TAC).

undercolour removal (UCR)
Removing the coloured ink from areas where all three overlap, and replacing the dark overlap colour with black ink. Eliminating redundant ink reduces cost and helps avoid problems connected with saturating the paper.
